Becoming a member

Who can join?
If you live, work, worship or go to school in Erie County, and can prove US citizenship, you’re eligible for Empire ONE Federal Credit Union membership and access to all of the credit union’s member benefits. Once you join, members of your immediate family may also join and enjoy the full privileges of membership.

How can I join?
If  you’d like to become an Empire ONE member and take advantage of the many benefits the credit union provides, you can:

  • Join in person—Simply stop by any of our branch locations and speak with a Member Service Representative.
  • Call us—Contact your local branch, and we’ll send you an Empire ONE Membership Packet and help you open your new account.

All new accounts are verified with Chex Systems. We reserve the right to deny any new accounts when any derogatory information is given.

Are my family members eligible to become members?
Yes, once you are an Empire ONE FCU member, your immediate family members and others living in your household are eligible to join.

Account information

Are my deposits insured?
Yes, your deposits are insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government.

What is Empire ONE FCU’s routing and transit number?
The Routing and Transit number for all Empire ONE accounts is 222079466.

How do I make deposits into my account(s)?
You can make deposits in person at any branch location. You can also sign up for Direct Deposit or Payroll Deduction to have funds automatically deposited into your account(s).

How can I withdraw money from my account(s)?
You can withdraw funds in person at either branch location. You can also use your Empire ONE Visa® Debit Card to make up to six no-fee withdrawals per month at our Orchard Park branch location and at thousands of ATMs in the AllPoint network. Additionally, you can access your account(s) at shared service ATM locations throughout Western New York.

How do I change my name or address on my account(s)?
You can change your address by visiting any branch location. You can also call 716.854.2458 to request a change of address form that can be mailed back to us.

How do I order new checks (share drafts)?
You can order new checks online from Harland Clarke, or by visiting or calling any Empire ONE branch, through the Virtual Branch or by using telephone banking.

Below is additional information pertaining to the procedures on opening a new account or creating a new membership relationship:

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all U.S. financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each individual or legal entity that opens an account or establishes a customer relationship with Empire ONE Federal Credit Union. Federal law also requires all U.S. financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies the beneficial owners of a legal entity that opens an account or establishes a customer relationship.

What this means for you: if you enter into a new customer relationship with Empire ONE Federal Credit Union, our credit union employee will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other identification information (as applicable).  In addition, if you enter into a new customer relationship with Empire ONE Federal Credit Union on behalf of a legal entity, we will ask for the names, addresses, dates of birth and other identification information of the beneficial owners of the legal entity. This information will be used to verify your identity and, in the case of a legal entity customer, the identity of the beneficial owners. As appropriate, the credit union may, at its discretion, ask for additional documentation or information. If all required documentation or information is not provided, Empire ONE Federal Credit Union may be unable to open an account or establish a relationship with you.
